LGBTQ+ Inclusivity Training and Consultation

As an LGBTQ+ Safe Zone establishment you let your employees, customers, and the community around you know that everyone who enters your doors will feel safe and included in your space.

It’s important for everyone to feel safe and included in any space they work or frequent. Research shows that diversity and inclusivity aren’t just the recent buzzwords, but that organizations where employees and patrons feel a sense of safety outperform those where a culture of inclusivity and celebrating diversity is not promoted. Profits, performance and bottom lines aside, building a culture of caring, trust, and inclusivity is just the right thing to do that allows all who come in contact with it to thrive.

During this training, Finn (they/them) will help you make your space a safe zone for the LGBTQIA+ community. In a typical 3 hour training for your staff, organization, group, or anyone wanting to learn, Finn will facilitate learning and dialogue around gender identity and sexual orientation, teach inclusive language and vocabulary, and provide tangible tips and resources to becoming a better ally in and creating a culture of acceptance and respect in and outside of your organization.

Finnley provides this training as a queer, non-binary person with lived experience as well as having undergone extensive training to become a safe-zone facilitator from NorthStar LGBTQ+ Center in Winston Salem, NC. They have facilitated over 15 hours of training, with clients ranging from a small business yoga studio to nonprofit and government organizations.

Training length and some content can be customized to fit your needs. Typical 3 hour training rate starts at $400, with sliding scale funding available for non-profit organizations and small business groups. Finn’s goal is to make this training as accessible as possible. Trainings are offered outside of traditional working hours (8am to 5 pm Monday - Friday), and can be done in person or over conference software such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. A scaled back version of the training can be done in 2 hours; however, a minimum amount of 3+ hours is recommended. Training can be expanded and adapted to fit staff retreats.

What people are saying about this training

“Finn led a very engaging and informative training that helped us all come to a better understanding of LGBTQIA discrimination. They also helped us to become more familiar with terminology and how to integrate that more in our daily lives. Finn took great care to be inclusive and respectful of all participants and provided a way for us to explore some new concepts in a safe space. This training would be an excellent addition to any organization.”

-Melanie Yokeley, Administrative Coordinator at the Interactive Resource Center

“We have been working with Finn for a number of years having them offer inclusive training opportunities specifically for our soon to be yoga teachers. We have found their work to be extremely beneficial to our teachers and our students. Working with Finn has been a breeze, they bring great personality and open communication for our students to be able to ask questions they may not ask otherwise in order to be a better ally to those in the LGBTQ+ community who attend our yoga classes.”

- Kristen Williams, Owner and founder of K10Yoga
